Cover letter examples that sound like a real human

By TalentCoy Editorial

A cover letter is your chance to connect the dots between who you are and what the company needs. Keep it short — three to four paragraphs is plenty.

Open with why this specific role caught your attention, then show the most relevant evidence from your experience, then close with a clear, polite next step.

Avoid starting with “I am writing to apply for…”. Instead, lead with something specific about the company or product that genuinely interests you.

Template — Four-paragraph structure

1) Hook — why this role and company. 2) Fit — your strongest 2 examples. 3) Bridge — what you would bring in the first 90 days. 4) Close — polite invitation to talk.

Final checklist

  • Addressed to a real person where possible
  • Mentions the company by name and a real reason
  • Highlights two strong, relevant examples
  • Under one page
  • No generic openings
